Daily Contemplations
May 17, 2012 - Thursday
"Indeed it was for my own peace that I had great bitterness; but You have lovingly delivered my soul from the pit of corruption, for You have cast all my sins behind Your back" (Isaiah 38:17).
We are often faced with hardships and pain that test our endurance and that lead us to feel bitter. We experience a sense of being trapped with no way out; or we just despair and think that is the end of life and that we have reached a dead end. That is not the case for the children of God who are confident of their value in the eyes of their heavenly Father. They know that He watches over them throughout their lives. Moreover, they are confident that He is able to transform their bitterness into a sense of safety and peace. In spite of our awareness of the burden of our sins, God is a merciful Father, and in times of hardship He overlooks our sins, and helps and strips away the bitterness within us.
